- Our Nitro, WV facility is currently treating Brine, Pit, and Frac water.
- The US Department of Transportation (DOT) and the Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration (PHMSA) have recently put in place regulations on the handling and transportation of spent batteries.
All types of batteries, excluding common household alkaline batteries, must have their terminals either taped or wrapped securely. You can do this by placing each separate battery into "baggies" or taping each terminal. "Common household alkaline" are any batteries equal to or less than 1.5 volts, including AAA, AA, C, and D. www.allaboutbatteries.com has useful information to help determine the voltage of your spent batteries. A more specific summary and guidelines can be found at the PHMSA website, www.phmsa.dot.gov.
United will not be able to transport these materials unless they are properly packaged effective 1/1/10.
